Our Methods

 

 

Our tadelakt, colour powder pigments and soaps are a piece of Marrakech and are 100% natural.The colour pigments, together with our tadelakt give a more deeper and natural earthy looking appearance.

There is no such thing as mixing tadelakt. We need to soak the material for upto a month before applying it.
The pictures from left to right shows how the tadelakt is blended with the powder pigments by hand. We then pour water on the pigmented tadelakt, close the lid and leave to soak. The picture on the the far right shows what the material looks like when we opened the tub after a week of soaking. A solid mass indicates a perfectly soaked tadelakt. Tadelakt can be used after at least 3 days of soaking depending on certain factors.

PREPARING & CREATING OBJECTS

SOAKING THE TADELAKT

 

A video showing how we prepare our tadelakt, in true Moroccan fashion. We put the tadelakt below water to soak for upto a month before any instalaltion. The soaking ensures the pigments blend evenly, deeper colour depth and a more smooth application.

PREPARING THE SUBSTRATE

A video showing how we prepare the substrate before the tadelakt installation. We use sand & cement just like in Morocco.

We occasionaly use an NHL (Natural Hydraulic Lime) for our basecoat, depending on certain factors
